Stripping ½" of the nylon coating and forming a “J” on the end of a Nylosteel, Nylostainless, or DuraStainless pin allows the pin to lock in the splice. With the pin secured it is not able to migrate out of the splice. In addition, the “J” end does not allow the pin to spin freely within the splice and focuses the wear on only one side of the pin.
To remove, pull the pin until the “J” end is out of the splice, rotate 90 degrees until the smooth side of the pin is against the fastener loops and then pull the pin out.
